The Bossier Arts Council is a community organization that is focused on teamwork. We are made up of a small but dedicated staff, a diverse Board of Directors and a revolving group of interns!

Robin Jones, Executive Director

Robin Jones moved to the Shreveport/Bossier area in 2004 with her husband & two children. She joined the Bossier Arts Council staff in 2011 and became the Executive Director in July of 2014.  In her time at BAC, Robin has more than tripled funding and programming for our youth.  With over fifteen years of experience in both education and the arts and armed with a passion for her community, she has helped cultivate worthwhile activities for students of all ages. Five years ago she created and launched Project Art Supplies which collects funds and art supplies to distribute to Bossier/Caddo Parish Schools. A program that is still going strong today. Through the Budding Artist Association (BAC’s Jr. Arts Council) she has provided leadership training to over 250 High School students. Robin received the 2016 YPI’s Forty Under Forty award and the 2018 PRIDE Award for Brand Awareness from the Convention and Tourist Bureau and was named  Louisiana Ambassador by Lt, Governor, Billy Nungessor in 2018 and 2019. Most recently, Robin graduated from the United Way Distinguished Leader Program (Class of 2018) and was an 2018 Athena Leadership Nominee. Robin has a great love for Louisiana and uses her free time to volunteer in the community. She currently serves as President of the Shreveport Bossier Attractions Association.

Michael Byrnes, Gallery Coordinator

Michael Byrnes is a recent graduate from LSUS, and has had a Michael Byrnespassion for art his whole life.  He garnered numerous awards over the years.  Most recently, he secured 5 American Advertising Federation awards “ADDY’s” due to the superb instruction from the professors at LSUS.   Michael is a proud military veteran of the USAF where he served 24 years of active duty as a decorated medic with valor.  During his world travels in the military he was also allotted the experience of visiting some of the most prestigious museums and working with some of most outstanding people in the world that supported his love for the arts.

Education is a roadmap to success as he has acquired an Associates of Art and Design from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Associates of Science from Southwestern Illinois University, Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) , Military Science Degree from (CCAF), Bachelors in Liberal Arts (Psychology), Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) and is Currently working on his masters degree in Marketing from LSUS.

Michael was born and raised in Shreveport/Bossier Louisiana,  where he currently resides in Bossier City with his “Super” family.  He has 4 Superkids, Mikaela, Matthew, Mason, and Meagan, and is married to his high school sweetheart, Amy.   When he’s not at work he’s off saving the world as Superman……Come see, you’ll understand what we mean.

Alex Richardson, Marketing Coordinator

Alex Richardson is a graduate of Bossier Parish Community College with an Associate’s Degree of Communication Media. Having a background in graphic design and traditional art, Alex was one of the first students accepted into the Bossier Talented Arts Program after its move up north in 2007 and was a student with the BPCC Communication Media Scholarship Program for 2 years, where he learned the trades of news, broadcasting, and media management.

Through his time in the arts, he has won awards through the George Rodrigue Art Foundation,  the SkillsUSA Organization, and the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier which he now sits on the board for! As a freelance graphic designer, Alex has created logos and designs for many local businesses  and organizations within the East Bank District and around Shreveport-Bossier.

When not working on art or non-profit work, Alex has made a bit of a name as a local “Foodie” among his peers who tend to come to him for suggestions on where to get the best bites!

Jaylin Monroe, Administrative Assistant

Jaylin Monroe is her name and creating is her game!

Jaylin has a passion for community development through the arts.
She started college at Bossier Parish Community College in hopes to help children with special needs, but has branched out into freelance work as a visual and digital artist. Jaylin has led groups for individuals to understand themselves and their creativity. One day she hopes to aspire others through the arts with her own art.

When she is not working on an art piece or helping others, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her daughter.
